SOCIETY'S SOFT UNDERBELLY
11 MAY, 2007 / 22:00 - 24:00 / LEIDSEPLEIN, AMSTERDAM
This program of films, projected outdoors in the park in Leidseplein, Amsterdam, examine the seedy, dirty underbelly of society. Amongst Hans van Houwelingen's ridiculously whimsical "lizard" sculptures we invade with a heroin-addicted driver for a mortuary, a clinically-insane man who paints his doctor's dying in gruesome manners, French youths who set fire to police cars for pleasure, squatters who grow marijuana within 100 meters of a police station, and a journalist who knowlingly spreads corporate lies. You know, shit you don't read in the Lonely Planet guides.
List of films:
- NOBODY DIES WHEN IT'S SUNNY (Niles Harrison, USA)
- VISUAL METAPHORS IN MANIC DEPRESSIVE INSANITY (Jan van Willem, Netherlands)
- 35 HOURS (Michelle Leduc, France)
- SQUATTERS PARADIJS (Katrien van der Voorde, Netherlands)
- MANUFACTURING CONTEMPT (Maas Eend, Netherlands)
